This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your AV Access HDMI Matrix Switch 4x2 4K@60Hz, Model 4KMX42-H2A. This device allows you to connect up to four HDMI source devices and distribute their signals to two HDMI displays independently or simultaneously. It supports advanced features such as 4K@60Hz resolution, HDR, ARC, audio extraction, and independent 4K to 1080p scaling for each output.
Mabuɗin Siffofin
- 4K@60Hz 4 In 2 Out Matrix: Supports HDMI 2.0 with 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 resolution, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision. Allows any of 4 inputs to be routed to output 1 and/or output 2, with outputs displaying different or identical content.
- Simultaneous 4K and 1080P Output: Capable of playing 4K and 1080P content simultaneously, with 18Gbps bandwidth.
- ARC & Audio Extraction: Features Audio Return Channel (ARC) on output 2 (requires TV with ARC function) and audio de-embedding. S/PDIF (Toslink) output supports PCM 2.0/5.1 and DTS up to 5.1 CH. A 3.5mm L/R headphone analog audio output is de-embedded from output 1.
- Independent Downscaling: Each output supports independent scaling from 4K to 1080P.
- Zaɓuɓɓukan Gudanarwa da yawa: Operates via IR remote control, front panel buttons, and RS-232 serial communication with a documented API.
- Ƙarfin Ƙarfafawa: Built-in surge protection and superior ESD protection. Sturdy metal enclosure minimizes noise interference.

This diagram illustrates how to connect various source devices such as computers, gaming consoles (Xbox, PS4), and IPTV boxes to the four HDMI inputs of the matrix switch. It also shows the two HDMI outputs connecting to different displays (UHD TV1, HDTV2) and audio outputs connecting to an amplifier, speakers, or headphones. The diagram highlights both Matrix Mode (different outputs) and Splitter Mode (same outputs).

- Ensure all devices (source, display, matrix switch) are powered off before making connections.
- Connect your HDMI source devices (e.g., Blu-ray player, game console, PC) to the HDMI IN 1-4 ports on the rear panel of the matrix switch using high-quality HDMI 2.0 cables.
- Connect your HDMI display devices (e.g., TV, projector) to the HDMI OUT 1 and HDMI OUT 2 ports on the rear panel using high-quality HDMI 2.0 cables.
- If using audio extraction, connect your audio receiver or soundbar to the S/PDIF OUT port or your headphones/speakers to the 3.5mm L/R audio output.
- Connect the provided power adapter to the DC 5V port on the matrix switch and then plug it into a power outlet.

Using the Scaler Function
The matrix switch supports independent downscaling from 4K to 1080p for each output. This allows you to connect a 4K source and simultaneously display 4K on one screen and 1080p on another.

This image highlights the built-in scaler feature of the HDMI Matrix Switch. It shows a 4K source connected to an input, with the switch simultaneously outputting 4K resolution to a 4K TV and downscaling to 1080p for a 1080p TV. This allows for flexible display configurations.
Configuring ARC (Audio Return Channel)
To utilize the ARC function on Output 2:
- Ensure your television supports ARC and that the HDMI port you are using on the TV is ARC-enabled.
- Connect your TV's HDMI (ARC) port to the HDMI OUT 2 port of the matrix switch using an HDMI 2.0 cable.
- Connect your soundbar, speaker, home theater system, or A/V receiver to the S/PDIF OUT port of the matrix switch using an optical cable, or ensure your receiver is connected via HDMI to the matrix.
- Adjust the DIP switch on the matrix for Output 2 to enable ARC or De-embed audio as needed.
- Note that the TV remote will not control the volume of the audio extracted from the matrix. Volume must be adjusted on your soundbar/speaker/A/V receiver. The S/PDIF port light will be red when ARC is active.

This diagram details the setup for using the Audio Return Channel (ARC) function. It shows how to connect your TV's HDMI (ARC) port to HDMI Output 2 of the matrix switch. Audio from the TV can then be sent back to an amplifier or soundbar via the optical cable or the HDMI connection itself. Note that the 3.5mm port does not support ARC.

The matrix switch offers flexible control for routing inputs to outputs:
- Maɓallan Fannin Gaba: Use the 'Output 1' and 'Output 2' buttons on the front panel to cycle through the available HDMI inputs (1-4) for each respective output. The corresponding LED indicator will light up to show the active input.
- Ikon nesa na IR: Use the provided IR remote control to directly select inputs for Output 1 and Output 2. The remote has dedicated buttons for each input (1-4) and each output (Output 1, Output 2). Point the remote towards the IR receiver on the front panel of the matrix switch.
- Sarrafa RS-232: For advanced users and integrated systems, the matrix switch can be controlled via RS-232 serial commands. Refer to the detailed API documentation provided by AV Access for specific command protocols.
Matrix Mode vs. Splitter Mode
The device can operate in two primary modes:
- Yanayin Matrix: Output 1 and Output 2 can display different HDMI sources simultaneously. For example, Input 1 to Output 1, and Input 2 to Output 2.
- Yanayin Rarraba: Both Output 1 and Output 2 can display the same HDMI source simultaneously. For example, Input 1 to Output 1 and Input 1 to Output 2.
