1. Gabatarwa

Thank you for choosing the Zebra PL-220 Thermal Laminator. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your laminator. Please read it thoroughly before use and keep it for future reference. The PL-220 is designed for laminating documents up to letter/legal size, offering robust performance for various office and personal needs.

2. Umarnin Tsaro

  • Always connect the laminator to a grounded power outlet.
  • Do not operate the laminator with wet hands or near water.
  • Keep children and pets away from the laminator during operation.
  • The laminator generates heat. Avoid touching the lamination slot or rollers during and immediately after use to prevent burns.
  • Never insert objects other than laminating pouches into the machine.

  • POWER Indicator (Red): Illuminates when the machine is powered on.
  • READY Indicator (Green): Illuminates when the machine has reached the selected operating temperature.
  • TEMP °C Dial: Used to select the desired lamination temperature (80°C to 180°C).
  • HOT/COLD Switch: Selects between thermal (hot) and pressure-sensitive (cold) lamination modes.
  • FORWARD/REVERSE Switch: Controls the direction of the rollers. Use REVERSE to clear jams.
  • KASHE/KASHE KASHE: Powers the laminator on or off.

4. Saita

  1. Shirya: Carefully remove the laminator from its packaging.
  2. Wuri: Place the laminator on a stable, flat surface with adequate space around it for proper ventilation and document feeding/exiting.

5. Umarnin Aiki

5.1 Thermal Lamination (Hot)

  1. Kunna Wuta: Flip the ON/OFF switch to 'ON'. The red POWER indicator will light up.
  2. Zaɓi Yanayin: Set the HOT/COLD switch to 'HOT'.
  3. Saita Zazzabi: Rotate the TEMP °C dial to the appropriate temperature for your laminating pouch thickness. Refer to the table below for recommended settings.
  4. Yi zafi: Allow 2 to 3 minutes for the machine to preheat. The green READY indicator will light up when the selected temperature is reached.
  5. Shirya Takarda: Place your document inside a laminating pouch, ensuring it is centered and there is an even border around the document.
  6. Laminate: Insert the sealed edge of the laminating pouch squarely into the entry slot. The machine will automatically feed the pouch through. Do not pull or push the pouch.
  7. Kwantar da hankali: Once the pouch exits the machine, place it on a flat surface to cool and harden.
  8. Kashe Wuta: After use, turn the ON/OFF switch to 'OFF' and unplug the machine.

5.2 Recommended Temperature Settings

The optimal temperature depends on the thickness of your laminating pouch. Using a carrier is recommended for thinner pouches or delicate documents to prevent adhesive bleed and ensure smooth feeding.

5.3 Cold Lamination

For heat-sensitive documents or self-adhesive pouches, use the cold lamination setting.

  1. Kunna Wuta: Flip the ON/OFF switch to 'ON'.
  2. Zaɓi Yanayin: Set the HOT/COLD switch to 'COLD'.
  3. Shirya Takarda: Place your document inside a cold laminating pouch.
  4. Laminate: Insert the sealed edge of the pouch squarely into the entry slot. The machine will feed it through using pressure.
  5. Kashe Wuta: After use, turn the ON/OFF switch to 'OFF' and unplug the machine.

5.4 Aikin Baya

If a laminating pouch is misfed or begins to jam, immediately flip the FORWARD/REVERSE switch to 'REVERSE' to eject the pouch. Once the pouch is clear, return the switch to 'FORWARD' or 'OFF'.

6. Kulawa

  • Tsaftacewa: Ensure the laminator is unplugged and completely cool before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp za a iya amfani da zane, sannan bushewa.
  • Gyaran Rola: Periodically run a laminator cleaning sheet (available separately) through the machine to remove any adhesive residue from the rollers.
  • Ajiya: Store the laminator in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
